Ellis Stone’s excellent Safety Record is no accident, it is the result of our commitment to a safe jobsite.

Our Company has achieved a .63 Experience Modification Rating (EMR) for 2008, one of the lowest in the State of Wisconsin.   An EMR is used to determine worker’s compensation premiums.  Our .63 rating means we pay 63% of what the average construction company pays in worker’s compensation premiums.

Safety

• Our employees participate in the OSHA Safety Course
• All Forklift Drivers are certified
• Workers in safety sensitive positions are in a random drug and alcohol testing program
• Weekly “Tool Box Safety Talk” conducted at every job site
• Regular safety training for new and experienced staff

Using proven techniques, coupled with years of experience and expertise, Ellis’ coordinated and documented processes ensure we meet the owner’s expectation of budget and schedule and maximizes value to the owner.

Scheduling

• We utilize the Critical Path Method for scheduling
• Our experience in scheduling and the software we use, allows us to project construction schedules and update easily and efficiently

Estimating

• We have maintained an extensive file of unit costs from past projects for over 30 years, allowing us to provide our customers with detailed accurate estimates
• Using a computerized file of material suppliers and subcontractors, we solicit bids for all phases of work
• Ellis competitively bids 85% - 95% of the total cost of each project

Supervision

• All Project Superintendents have completed the Associated General Contractors of America “Supervisory Training Program”.  Completion of the project is a 3-4 year commitment
• Superintendent average length of service with Ellis is over 19 years.  Most have years of additional experience in the construction industry

Cost Accounting

• We have utilized computerized cost accounting for over 30 years
• Projects are monitored weekly to ensure tight job control
