Estimating/Budgeting and Value Engineering

We maintain an extensive file of unit costs from past projects, which allows us to provide our customers with detailed, accurate estimates.  Using a computerized file of material suppliers and subcontractors, we solicit bids for all phases of work.  Ellis competitively bids 85-95 percent of the total cost of each project.

Ellis Stone Construction Company uses a team approach to the value engineering process.  Ellis estimators, project managers, and the principal-in-charge will work with the facilities personnel and the project architect in order to research cost and present value engineering options.  In addition, Ellis will reach out to material suppliers and subcontractors for their expertise in soliciting value engineering proposals.  It is the goal of value engineering not to eliminate quality of work or change the scope or design of the work, but rather to only change to materials or processes that will enhance the work and provide value for the owner.
