The original design and construction of this facility encompassed just over 60,000 square feet. Three years later, the owner moved the administrative and corporate offices to the facility adding 49,000 additional square feet. Careful planning during the design phase of the original project allowed for a seamless addition that maintained the integrity of the design. Fork lifts and tow motors move the majority of the product line; this meant that a flat floor was critical. Even slight variations in the level of the floor could cause safety concerns. In addition to the Distribution Center, Ellis was the Design-Build firm selected by the owner for four of their stores, and the general contractor for a fifth store.
