Description:
St. Joseph's Catholic Church, facing costly upgrades to their existing parish facility, chose to move forward with the construction of a brand new facility. The parish required that the church fit their needs for a close-knit community church, as well as the need for ample seating during the summer months when vacationers fill the church to capacity. Ellis Stone Construction Company was brought in as the general contractor to provide a detailed budget estimate for the owner prior to final design in order for the owner to make critical decisions about what elements of the project were necessary. The construction and design team worked directly with the owner in order to provide a usable facility that was a visually stunning building, was well constructed, and would serve the owner's needs well into the future. The design incorporated natural light through a translucent skylight, clearstory windows, and abundant aluminum and glass openings, as well as natural tones in the metal roof and concrete veneer. The interior incorporates a focused perspective as drywall beams and headers direct attention to the altar and worship area.
